Guide

Reversi starts with four discs in the center of an 8-by-8 board. Black moves first.

On your turn, place a disc on an empty square that traps at least one opposing disc in a straight line. The line can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Any trapped discs flip to your color.

Rules

Strategy

Do not chase the largest flip in the opening. Early discs are easy to lose, and a big flip can leave you with fewer choices on the next turn.

Corners matter because they cannot be flipped. A move that gives your opponent a corner is usually expensive, even if it wins a few discs right now.

Mobility matters too. If your opponent only has one awkward move, you may be controlling the position.
